Teachers Training Sessions — The purpose of the training sessions was to provide teachers with the knowledge and appropriate information for them to start Jane Goodall`s Roots & Shoots environment clubs in their schools. The training sessions were held in Mwanza, Iringa, Mbeya, Musoma and Shinyanga (in Tanzania) and they intended to bring together both ma/patrons of clubs and their heads in order for them to discuss possible options regarding the best ways of forming, coordinating and achieving club activities and projects at schools. In each school, two teachers were trained. The head teacher and the teacher responsible for environmental studies, who will serve as Jane Goodall`s Roots & Shoots ma/patron teachers. After the training, teachers established Roots & Shoots clubs, which will meet regularly, and each club is beginning to identify potential projects for them to do, based on their sought criteria and needs.
