The Greenathon4 run in India crossed half the way

In India, as a part of our  environment campaign, NDTV organised– The Greenathon4 Run.

On 21st. Apr 2012 ,   Model-actor Milind Soman left for a 1,500km long marathon from Delhi to Mumbai as part of NDTV?s annual Greenathon, in support of a clean and green environment.

 Today he has reached to Mahan Sewa Sanstha. Tomorrow to Bokha Village,  in  between Udaypur  and Ahmedabad. He has reached Half the way of 1500 KM run. 

On the starting of the run   the 46-year-old, who was also a national-level swimmer told that,  ?I am sure if each one of us contributes in doing simple things like not wasting electricity, using water wisely, not taking the escalators, the world would become a better, healthy and happy place to live in,?

Model and actor Milind Soman participates in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2008, on Sunday, January 20, 2007. He was a popular face on Indian television in 90s but model-actor Soman made his entry into the small screen with adventure series 'Sea Hawks' and later became popular with his titular character on science fiction TV series 'Captain Vyom'. 'A Mouthful of Sky' 'Noor Jehan'He was last seen in the third season of reality show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'.

 

Launched in April 2008, the NDTV-Toyota Green campaign is India's first ever nationwide campaign to save the environment. The campaign is aimed at creating awareness about environmental issues by involving the people of our country to make a difference. The campaign was supported by Dr R K Pachauri and India's then Minister for Environment, Jairam Ramesh.

As part of this environment campaign, NDTV organised India's first Telethon in 2009 – The Greenathon, a fund-raising event that calls on people to donate to support TERI's initiative – 'Lighting a Billion Lives' which aims at providing solar power to villages without electricity.

The Greenathon 4, a 12-hour live telethon for the environment will be held on May 20, 2012. The event would be a combination of musical extravaganza, live chats with celebrities, simultaneous green activities across India, reports on environment and green pledges by celebrities, politicians and the common man.
