A huge movie buff I am. I can see any good movie from any land, preferably with subtitles rather dubbing (which kills the original art phonetically I think). From the various videos and documentaries I have seen, I pick 13 of the best movies falling in the nature/environment genre, I can remember. The Cove: Depicting the stress suffered by the animals in captivity?how a dolphin committed suicide! Baraka: A visually stunning photographic documentary on the most beautiful things to be seen on earth. I couldn't see the whole thing in one sitting due to amazement depicted. Earthlings: Hidden cameras show some of the inside secret practices of the industrial world. Home: Aerial footage from 54 nations and the interlink-age of all the planet?s problems. Winged Migration: Migratory birds behavior shot over three years span on the seven continents. Who killed the Electric Car? : A classic documentary telling the life and death story of the electric car. Food, Inc. : Perhaps the most popular movie on the inside food industry activities. Sharkwater: One of the best movies on the amazing ocean world. Encounters at the End of the World: A perfect movie on Antarctica. Earth: The migratory world of four animal families. The 11th Hour: A documentary focusing on restoring the ecosystems. GasLand: Rural American story of how the landowners are lured by energy corporate. An Inconvenient Truth: The most popular and widely known film on global warming and Al Gore's campaign. PS: No Ranking is done with the order of movies in the above list. I may not be remembering other good films seen in the genre. Please share in case anyone loves movies of this genre. :) |
