   This morning I joined a group of random people who wanted to make a statement by cleaning Sampaloc Lake ( One of the seven lakes in our City ) which was full of a form of algae/plankton. If this algae/plankton is left in the lake especially in summer time, it will create a very unpleasant smell that can reach kilometers away from the lake. The activity organized by our Congresswoman was joined by our group who we invited through facebook. We were joined by some college students and government officials of San Pablo City. It was a big relief for me to know that at least a little portion of this algae/plankton was removed from our lake. Sometime this month we will have another clean up were'in we are expecting to collect about one metric ton of this algae/plankton. A scientist will then teach us how to add a micro-organism that will convert it to organic fertilizer or compost. |
