This year several iconic buildings along the Abu Dhabi Corniche went dark along with the Shaikh Zayed Bridge, Zayed Sports City, Emirates Palace Hotel, Yas Hotel and the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque between 8:30pm - 9:30pm. The Sahel Maydan at the Corniche played host to various activities. People joined the Dubai Drummers as an activity to keep themselves entertained for the hour. There was a mini observatory where the moon could be viewed up close. Many also held up green fluorescent sticks to observe the occasion. The Fairmont Hotel at Bab Al Bahr marked the event by cycling their way producing electricity for a full 24 hours. On a whole the event was a great success and it sure did enlighten many minds about saving energy and saving the planet.
