[September Thematic Report] Extreme Weather in Zimbabwe

by Enock Chinyanga | 15-09-2022 23:06

Extreme weather in Zimbabwe

From the beautiful, lovely and scenic Eastern Highlands to the scorching hot areas of Beitbridge, Zimbabwe is a land locked country that's located in the Southern part of Africa. Many people admire the scenic beauty of the Smoke that Thunders popularly known as Victoria Falls but going to the Eastern part of the country you'd truly see that not all Mother Nature's creations are peaceful.

In 2018, Cyclone Idai forced its entry into the country after destroying some parts of Mozambique. Chimanimani, an area in Manicaland succumbed to this roaring menace and many lives were taken and even to this day, some bodies of people haven't been recovered. That's how extreme weather can be in Zimbabwe, leaving hundreds and thousands of people displaced with no place to call home with fear of the 'horror' happening again.

I'd urge the government of any country, no matter the country's demographic location, to set aside funds for disaster relief and handle situations like these because the weather is unpredictable and dangerous. Many personnel have to be trained in First Aid and people should be taught how to react to such catastrophic events.
