One of the most long-cherished desires to solve for growing cities is dealing with wastes. Incineration and landfill are the most common ways to deal with everyday waste, but they cause serious environmental problems such as air and soil contamination. When the landfill is full, looking for other adequate place is another problem, facing local people?s strong objection.

Fortunately, Gumi city has found new resource recovery plant and run it since January 2011. The new plant is able to deal with average amount of 200 tons of waste every day and assort average amount of 50 tons of recyclable waste. Also it can store waste product such as burnt ashes for about 30 years.

All the while the city accepted Japan?s Kawasaki technology to minimize environmental contaminants, and also reuse the generated heat to produce electricity. This newly produced electricity is used to run the facility itself, and leftover gets to be sold to leave 8 hundred million won revenue per year. One thing that the city mentioned to citizens is that people should be careful when recycling.

There are some things that need to be done even if the result may be polluting the environment, such as dealing with everyday trash, cleaning ourselves, making daily needs, and so on. If these have to be done, it had better be done as environment-friendly as it can. Reusing generated heat can be a good example.
