 Indonesia - Plastic is NOT fantastic if there is no good management! It cannot be harmful in the soil until thousands years. That's why all of us need to reduce the use of plastic. The Indonesian Ministry of the Environment held campaign about "Say no to plastic bag!" by selecting 25 February 2009 as a National Plastic Bag Free Day in Surabaya. The Indonesian Environmental Minister, Ir. Rachmat Witoelar signed a board as the opening ceremony of that event. Beside that, there were many students brought posters and yelled on the street regarding to raise people's awareness in reducing plastic bags. Accompanied by three Indonesian Environment Envoys, Surabaya Mayor, and Head of Local Environmental Office in Surabaya, Witoelar went to the malls also to socialize shoppers and sellers to use canvas bags instead of plastic bags. |
