by | 01-09-2011 16:45

Indonesia - Global warming urges us to think globally and act locally. That's why, Vania Santoso - The Indonesian Environment Envoy tries to make an innovation regarding to prevent climate change.

In this case, discarded newspapers is the focus that she wants to solve. If we don't process discarded newspapers, they can cause air pollution through the waste burning.

We can recycle them to be recycled paper, right? But how about if we don't have enough materials and time to do it? Vania gets the solution! Beside raising campaigns on how to recycle paper, she also teach people to collect discarded newspaper together, then sell them to earn money. The money goes to buy trees to be distributed for schools and people freely to be planted as many as possible.

What a unique idea?! It's so simple but it can solve 2 problems in a same time: waste problem and also air pollution. Therefore, she gets an appreciate from the Indonesian President and also the Certificate from UNEP for planting more than 17,000 trees and catalyzing environmental actions.

Let's green this earth!! GO GREEN...!
