Guinea Hens in the Backyard

by Bam Azores | 30-08-2011 09:14

I am happy to report that my guinea hens are thriving. We have guinea hens and chickens running around the backyard and I consider them my pets. We thought we were missing one, but we found it sitting on a nest of 18 eggs. Woohoo! It will take them 28 days to hatch, but maybe less or maybe more. We have so many guinea hens and if they all start laying eggs and hatching, we will have an army of little keets walking all over the backyard.

What's good about taking care of guinea hens?
It's a stress-buster! They help the environment by eating the insects that are not supposed to be there like the fleas and ticks and their poop is used as natural fertilizer around the garden.
