Scales of rare species stolen

Pangolin, one of the rare species of the world, is covered with tough and overlapping scales. The scales which has been preserved in district forest office store of Sindhupalchowk District of Nepal has been stolen.

The scales were caught by Barhabise Area Police Office while being smuggled to Khasa on the 22nd of May last year. The scales weighing 46 kg was handed by the police to the forest office.

A worker at the district forest office informed the police that there was a break-in in the office and the scales were stolen.

Police suspect that the scales have been theft with the support of some senior officers at the district office.
