Tigers 'Panthera Tigris' are also one of the endangered species of the world. In the beginning of 20th Century, 8 species of Tigers were believed to be found but today only 5 of them remain.

Firstly, 3 of the species of tigers which are extinct now are The Javan Tiger, The Caspian Tiger and The Bali Tiger. The last Javan tiger was seen in 1972, Caspian was extinct in 1950's and Bali in 1937.

Among the found 5 species, all of them are listed as endangered. The Bengal Tiger are still in number of 2500 to 4700 found in the wild. 333 Bengal tigers are in captivity. Indochinese tigers are found in the range of 1227-1785. 60 of this subspecies are found in zoos. Only 400-500 Sumatran Tigers are in the wild and 210 in captive. 360-470 in wild and about 490 in captive, Amur/Siberian tigers are found. South Chinese tigers are pehaps only 20-30 and 47 in zoos.
