Consequence of Our Deeds!

by Momina Ahsan | 01-09-2022 02:16

We all try to build legacies!
We all strive to make a name!
But ever Thought of any Natural calamity that can bring Apocalyptic Devastation?
What about Name, Fame or Growth Then?
Are these consequences of our deeds?
Or Climate is taking a Dead Turn?

Multistory hotels crumbling into rising waters. Surging waves crash into elevated roads and bridges. Millions of people are driven from their homes. Mothers cry to find their children and children lingering to death. Deliveries in water and dead babies with no place to bury them. Is this Life? Or have We brought Climate to this End?

This is nothing but a change that is affecting Pakistan since last month. The prediction of Heavy Rainfall that might aid in Flooding came true. Till now, 80% of Pakistan is drowning in Flood Water and Dry Land seems a "Rich Stable". The South Asian country of about 220 million people is now facing an unprecedented crisis after eight consecutive weeks of heavy rainfall. The floods have killed 1,100 people, affected more than 33 million residents, wiped out 1 million homes, and destroyed about 2,200 miles of roads. Nearly 500,000 people are in displacement camps, and many others have nowhere to go. Not only this, many women are striving to get their hygienic measures intact, yet, In the 21st Century, they are deemed to use tree leaves as Menstrual hygienic measures.

Thinking of all this, Is It 21st Century?

Not only this, The death toll and economic burden are expected to rise, adding stress to an economically fragile and politically divided country. Humans are dying and Animals are dead long ago. In the era of digitization, this climatic change has brought Pakistan to a Dead end, making its bridges collapse and the humanity that was taking pride in development crashed in one go. The multinational buildings, tall towers, and all the highly equipped areas grounded in mere seconds, making a gesture of mortality. But Is this the price for Pakistani people only?

Are Only the Pakistani community enjoying the lavish industrialization or it's the deeds of Globe whose price is being paid by a developing country with shortest regimes and mismanagement at its peak? Yes! The quality of life that people in the West are enjoying today, someone is paying the price in the developing world. In southern Sindh province¡¯s Khairpur, one of the hardest-hit districts, Zahid Ali Jalalani, a 35-year-old farmer, experienced nonstop rain for the past two months. The water level in his village was rising slowly at first. Then came the flood. One night last week, as he rested with his wife and two children in their single-room home, a nearby canal burst, crashing into houses. Some parts of his village were instantly submerged under 10 feet of water. The same is happening in Balochistan, where every contact with ground teams is disconnected due to heavy rainfall.

1000+ Casualties
185000 Displaced
Flood affected more than 4 million people.
4 Billion USD loss to economy.
2 Millions of crops impacted,
More than 7 Million Animals perished in Floods.

Pakistan is responsible for 1% of Global Emissions, yet the heavy rainfall made us realize the importance of reforestation and climatic impacts. In the past weeks, every person either submerged in water or trying to carry out welfare activities realized the importance of climatic changes. As per research, it is being indicated that warmer temperatures increase evaporation, putting more moisture into the atmosphere that then gets released as rain or snowfall. Researchers also expect that, as the climate warms, flash floods will get ¡°flashier,¡± meaning that the timing of the floods will get shorter while the magnitude gets higher. That is what happening in Pakistan and bringing the apocalypse of Climatic Changes.

This is the need of the hour to realize the fact that one or two Nations can't bring climatic changes. It's about US. We all are responsible for our actions and that is what makes us suffer either through Floods in Developing countries like Pakistan or Forests fires in Developed Countries like Australia. We need to take Climate Campaigns seriously before the actions become irreversible. If that happens, it would be the CRISIS ON EARTH FOREVER! Let's stand together and create an impact in the community by bringing humanity into action and eco-friendly inputs. Or else, we all are going to doom sooner or later. Let's join hands and accelerate welfare activities regarding climatic impacts and help this Globe survive being Blue & Green!
