Many people wouldn't have heard about the city Gumi. It is a small city located at southeast of Korea. It may not be one of the major cities like Seoul, but it manages most of manufacturing in Korea. Consequently problems regarding air and water pollution keep arising. But I will cover these later in my articles.

Today I would like to talk about general status of Gumi. It has the very first designated provincial park, mountain Geumo. It is about 977m high, and has beautiful natural sights. There is also ecological park. It is providing shelter to many people with clean environment.

One of the four Korean major rivers, Nakdong-river flows across Gumi. It provides unique ecological environment in which diverse creatures live. Currently it has been issued about the policy of government which indicates the re-fixing of the rivers. Although the operation is being done as environment-friendly as possible thanks to citizens? criticism, but still it is deteriorating river ecology. Furthermore, as for Gumi where a lot of industrial complex is located in, industrial sewage is just worsening the situation. But apart from these the river also serves as a shelter for Gumi citizens.

As mentioned before Gumi is famous for the industrial complex. Most of Korean major companies manufacture their products in this city. This may help (and it actually does) promote the economic growth of Gumi but that has to be accompanied by proper purification systems and zero environmental problems.
