McDonald's to run Emirates trucks on own oil

by Bam Azores | 04-07-2011 19:17

McDonald's in the United Arab Emirates will start running its trucks using biodiesel converted from its own used cooking oil.  McDonald's has 80 outlets in the Emirates.

Dubai-based company (Neutral Fuels) said that it has a deal to convert used vegetable oil from McDonald's outlets in the UAE  into 100 percent biodiesel. This will be used by McDonald's delivery trucks across the UAE.  Biodiesel production was started this May after tests were done last year.

This biodiesel burns 50 percent cleaner than normal diesel and has a lower carbon footprint because it's coming from a waste vegetable product.
