At last, the long and cold winter is over and the spring came to us. The wind does not feel cold anymore and flowers are blooming all around the country. However, there is an uninvited guest in Korea, it is the ¢¯¢¯(Hwang-sa[the wellow sand]). According to the season, the wind blows to Korea from different ways. In the spring it usually blows from China and Mongolia. There is a big desert between China and Mongolia where the wind carries the yellow desert sand from there and blows to the east. It is called ¢¯¢¯. It passes by the Chinese cities and crosses the yellow sea between China and korea and arrives in Korea. When this wind blows in Korea, the sky turns to yellow and the air has the sand and dust smell. The size of the sand is very tiny so some people, especially children and old people suffer from it. Nowadays, it also carries pollution, passing by Chinses factories, so when this wind is blowing, you would better staying inside the building closing all the windows. Sometimes, the trace of the yellow sand is seen in the west coast of USA. This means the wind blows to the US crossing the pacific. The north east Asian countries are suffering from the yellow sand every spring. The biggest problem is that the yellow sand blows more often and more vigorously. The reason is that the desert is getting bigger because of the global warming and there is no solution to prevent the expasion of the desert. The Chinese and Mongolian goverments are planting trees in the desert but it is not enough to prevent it. In this spring, I have already heard about the yellow sand would be blowing. There is no way to stop the blowing of hte yellow sand from China. So when it is blowing, stay inside the building and if you have to go outside, you must wash your hands and face or take a shower as soon as you return home. Although, the yellow sand interrupts our holidays in the beautiful spring days, we should keep maintaining good hygiene by washing our hands and body. * Source : http://blog.naver.com/inmyseoul/120105414848
