(Aug Free Report) Patagonia

by Seoyoon Min | 10-08-2022 13:16

I once did a report on environment-friendly brands and Patagonia was one of the impressive companies I¡¯d researched. Patagonia is an outdoor and adventure-wear brand. Patagonia has hundreds of stores in more than 10 countries across 5 continents, as well as factories in 16 countries. Patagonia has a mission statement to ¡°build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis.¡± As its action to reduce its environmental impact, a high proportion of its materials are made from recycled fabrics. It creates high-quality, long-lasting products, and offers a repair and reuse program. The brand is famous for its ¡°Don¡¯t buy this jacket¡± campaign. It was designed to tackle the issues of consumerism and urged shoppers to buy less to reduce their own eco footprint. Patagonia commits 1% of its total sales to environmental groups, since 1985. In 2016, Patagonia pledged to contribute 100% of sales from Black Friday to environmental organizations, totaling $10 million. The brand has implemented greenhouse gas emissions reduction activities throughout its supply chain to reduce its climate impact. It aims to become carbon neutral by 2025.  In 2021, Patagonia announced that it would no longer produce its clothing with corporate logos added because "adding an additional non-removable logo reduces the life span of a garment". Patagonia is a company that earns our respect. I have a Patagonia pullover at home and I intend to keep it with me  for a long time.
