Last month our theme for the report was Green Certifications. Searching for university education in the field of environment, on the website of University of Waterloo, I had come across a list of 25 important green certifications that according to me are of relevance. I realised that a wide range of green or sustainability certifications are available for businesses, organisations; and all kinds of cooperatives and trades, to serve as guiding principles as well as for verification of commitment to sustainability and circular economy. Third party verifications from companies of repute are often relied upon for unbiased and reliable reports. An online search shows that sheer number of such certifications make it very difficult identify their relevance and suitability, and select the right ones. In developed countries the local chambers of commerce give valuable advise and industries have clear guidelines about the best certifications for respective businesses. Where such information is not available, some basic factors can be considered when selecting a sustainability certifications:
* Identifying the most widely recognised certifications in relation to the specific industry or business
* Cost (in terms of time and money) of achieving certifications and does the certification add value to the specific business? Staring with the Theme report in June, I had shortlisting some important certifications and including basic information about them. I presented the details as infographics in the form of tabulated slides with data as bullet points to make it easy to go through the data.
I had included 10 different certifications as 2 slides in the Theme report for June. I am posting the balance 15 certifications in 3 slides in my Free Report for this month.
