A Break from a Busy Day

Even though my daily life is full of classes and homework, there is a place I can go to take a break from all of that and take a deep breath of air. There is a park near where I live, where everybody goes to take a stroll or walk their dogs and so on. It is called Yang-Jae-Chun. Yang-Jae is the name of one of the districts the stream runs through, and Chun means a stream or a brook. The stream runs through several districts and one of them is mine. It is approximately 18.5km long.

My house is amidst tall apartment buildings and roads filled with heavy traffic. I am used to being surrounded by all these concrete buildings, but sometimes miss the tall, green trees I saw so much when I lived in New York State a few years ago. So, when I want to experience nature near me, I go to this park. You can see seasons come and pass when you go to this park. It is famous for cherry blossoms in the spring time. The flower petals flutter all around you. In the fall, you can enjoy autumn foliage of red and yellow fluttering in the air and piling up on the ground. It is beautiful. Since there is a stream flowing in the middle between two sidewalks, you can see a school of fish and cross it by a bridge or stepping-stones.

Nature is good for us. I feel I become more fit and healthier walking amongst the trees and water. It is also good for the eyes to see the color green instead of the laptop monitors. I am able to calm down and relax from a busy, hectic day. Everything slows down when you¡¯re in nature. I so appreciate the park near my house. It is so important to have trees and parks in cities and must never be removed or reduced. I hope we don¡¯t ruin our chance to preserve this beauty.
