SOIL POLLUTION Soil pollution as a part of Land degradation is caused by the presence of xenobiotic chemicals .It is typically caused industrial activity, agricultural chemicals or improper disposal of waste. Due to microplastic ,oil spills, mining acid rain, intensive forming, agrochemicals, petrochemicals, industrial accidents, road debris. Natural pollution: natural process can lead to an accumulation of toxic chemicals in the soil. Ex: accumulation of higher levels of perchlorate in soil from the ATACAMA DESERT in CHILE. Industrial waste: steel, pesticides, textiles, drugs, glass, cement, petroleum etc. waste produced by paper Mills, oil refineries, sugar factories, petroleum industries. Discharge of sewage, landfill and illegal dumping, coal ash, electronic waste. Vehicle exhaust -like cd, zn, pb. The most common chemicals involved are petroleum hydrocarbons, solvents, pesticides, lead and other heavy metals.
Effects of soil pollution: soil pollution affects plants, animals and human. Diseases caused by soil pollution: Humans can be affected by soil pollution through the inhalation of gasses emitted from soil moving upward or wind. It causes headaches, nausea, fatigue, skin rashes, eye irritation, more serious conditions like neuromuscular blockage, kidney, liver damage and various forms of cancer.
Soil pollution be controlled: soil pollution be controlled by bioremediation, micro remediation, thermo remediation, plastic bags ban etc.
