Soil Pollution

by Daniel Puente | 18-04-2022 11:51

First we must know what soil pollution is when the concentration of contaminants on the surface is so high that it damages the biodiversity of the soil and puts our health at risk through, above all, food. [1].

Problem, clearly the soil is finite and influence a lot in our life, we depend 95% of our food that is produced directly or indirectly in soils. So our future and that of future generations depends on it. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), one third of the world's soils are now degraded, a problem that could escalate and affect the entire world, that is, 9 billion people by 2050.

Now that we know what it is, it is important to generate, this link between what pollutes the soil, first is the garbage that is thrown anywhere, on the other hand, is the pesticides of industrial and domestic use and deforestation. Researching on this subject I understood that the common denominator or the one that appears more in this is the industry, why. mainly, I could understand that there are not enough controls, that is to say, a solution to this is that there are more controls in the industrial part, perhaps to generate a more ecological model of industry. I feel that most human beings are aware of this problem or, therefore, try to help, so in itself the problem lies in the industry.  On the other hand, in the solutions is to recycle and reduce in several aspects and certainly something that Mexico and several Latin American countries need an urban planning to reduce in the future this damage and pollution [1].

In the matter of Mexico, sadly Mexico is almost without surface water and the one that exists is polluted according to several experts. This is funny at the same time, because our ancestors have a measured and unique control of water and on the other hand, Mexico City is built on lakes and lagoons, in fact the Aztecs (tribe that lived here) moved and built their city on water. Now talking more about the soil issue, Mexico City suffers with different problems of this type [2]. In fact I have even passed by garbage dumps, which are literally next to the road and you can smell a horrible smell, there are people living inside the garbage and you can only see piles of garbage, if these dumps are inside the city, now imagine what the Soil Pollution in the city will be like....
