Thematic report- March) Water Pollution

 polluted water (ground report)

Water mainly exists in two forms, freshwater and salt water on earth. about 3 percent of the water found on earth is freshwater, and 97 % percent is salt water found in the oceans. However, freshwater resources like lakes rivers are deteriorating rapidly due to increasing in contamination and disappearing at an alarming rate due to human interventions.

Due to release of harmful and pesticide fertiliser residues, waste and effluent from industries, release of untreated sewage generated in urban areas into water bodies Contamination can be classified as Inorganic contaminants, Organic contaminants, Radiological contaminants, biological contaminants

Condition in India

Waterborne diseases are rampant in India due to high levels of biological contamination of water due to lack of pipe planning and contaminated water

By an estimate by 2012, Delhi's sacred Yamuna river contained 7,500 coliform bacteria per 100cc of water. A number of NGOs, pressure groups, eco-clubs, as well as citizens' movements, have been active in their task to clean the river. (Source Wikipedia)

Solution

-We should pinpoint pollution hotspots in rivers and identify the spread of pollution locally, should collect data from various source and analysis it to get the exact picture ad start action based on data

-Awareness is one of the most economical and easy solution to clean water and keep it safe from pollutions
