Water pollution:
Life is possible on this planet due to the presence of water in it.Body of living organism is formed from water and presence of life is due to the existence of water. We use several liters of water daily for our day to day life chores. This planet has more than 90% water in it but several countries are suffering from the water scarsity due to proper management of water resources and provision of demand and supply analysis.Water pollution has become a matter of crucial concern at present with all the components of the environment laden with pollutants largely from anthropogenic bases and unplanned urbanization. The world currently faces a water quality crisis attributed to increased pollution from urbanization, fast-paced development, industrialization and increased food production. The health impacts of water pollution and declining water quality are of increasing concern, especially for policy makers.
Local marshlands are very fragile ecosystems and encompass a variety of water forms, namely ponds, rivers, swamps, etc.
Antibiotic deposits and antimicrobial resistance in surface water are issues of global anxiety, especially in developing countries.
The foremost water resource problems in world are due to various human activities such as agriculture, fossil fuel ignition, urbanization, and trade and moneymaking activities causing a severe environmental problem due to the pointless pollution of its water by various pollutants.
Oil pollution takes place in the form of oil spills/seeps either naturally or by human actions which in general caused by any crude oil-based liquid products such as hydrocarbons with higher molecular weights, viscosities and densities and gaseous products such as non-marshal volatile hydrocarbons, polycyclic aromatic hydro carbons.
The ingesting of microbial contaminated water leads diseases such as paratyphoid, bacterial infections, typhoid and dysentery that are water related.
Water pollution is mainly caused by human activities but the flora and fauna in the water bodies are negatively affected.Contamination of water with heavy metals can lead to bio-accumulation and bio-magnification in food chain and enter our food system which can have long term negative impacts to living beings. The figures of aqatic being trapped in plastic bags is also so heart wrenching to see.Water bodies must be free from any form of human induced pollutants for smooth functioning of the natural system. The sewages that go to the water system must be treated in advance.
I know single person can¡¯t control this problem but it can be solved when all individuals work together because this is the problem we created ourselves. And global government and organizations should come together in order to solve this problem. From our level all we can do is raise awareness and do our best to reduce the footprints of pollution. The innocent creatures are adversely affected by human induced pollutants.
There are already several forms of pollutants in water bodies and some can be resolved by biological and eco-frienldy approaches.Bacteriophages, bacteria, fungi etc are used in water bodies to control the heavy metal related pollution in water bodies. There are also ways to add spare chemicals in water to nutralize the effects of heavy metals.
