Untitled - Free Report

Trails of lights engulf the skies like ice cream in the bellies of children. It tastes very nice but too much would end up leaving the children with sickness. In a country where a survey run by the ministry science and technology says that a whooping estimated value of 28,000 people die per year owing to air pollution, much more than the entire persons killed by Covid 19 since its inception last year in the country, it would have been right to prioritize air pollution and find practical ways to solve the menace.

I made mention of lights, well these lights come from knockouts and bangers fired on the eve of 31st December. Within few minutes of the clock turning its hands to land on 00:00 Hours signifying a New Year day; a new year; the knockouts are released! So much so that one could barely breath or see through the massive smoke generated by the bangers coupled with excessive sound that prevent my eyes from closing to have a good night sleep!

Awfully so, we face this problem every year. I have limited myself so much so that I have never fired a knockout since 2018 after realizing the possible damage I could be causing Mother Earth through my actions, but that is just a tiny bit of the icing on the cake. I can only do as little as that. Funny enough; none of the knockouts fired on the eve of 31st December is made in Ghana or even Africa. All of them are manufactured outside Africa and imported into the continent. We have had most of these manufacturing countries talk about conserving the environment which is really funny to me. Can we ever justify our actions? You ban knockouts in your country but export this same knockouts to another country for usage. The irony of life never seems to be fair with Africa but it is just a matter of time. Environmental destruction has no limits, the effects shall be felt by all. But as for Africa and Ghana and what we can do to salvage the situation, well we shall continue to educate those who have ears to listen, and change in attitude should be the epitome to a new beginning for all of us.
