(Thematic report December) Farmer: A fantastic career related to renewable energy

Farmer is a person engaged in agriculture, raising living organisms for food or raw materials. Simply, farming means growing plants and raising livestock to fulfill basic human needs. From the beginning of the ancient human civilization, farming has rooted its impact on food production and has been continued till today. Although the farmer is necessary for the daily need of human beings, it is one of the neglected career sectors compared to other sectors.

What does the farmer do?
Farming is the process continued since ancient times. With the advancement in farming technology, farmers have become aware of the use of renewable energies in this field to produce a high yield. The introduction of organic fuel such as bioethanol, biogas, and manure such as compost manure from the kitchen waste, organic mulching has not only contributed to the food supply of the population around the world, but to sustainable energy as well.
Renewable energy and farming are a winning combination. Wind, solar, and biomass energy can be harvested forever providing farmers with a long-term source of income. The sun¡¯s energy can be used for passive heating such as greenhouses, direct heat treatment, and soil solarization. By using these renewable energies a farmer can convert his farm into an organic farm.

What qualifications do you need for this career?
Many farmers inherit their land and skill of cultivation from generation to generation. So, we can conclude that a person without any degree can also be a farmer if he has land and some skills to cultivate. However, it¡¯s possible to gain a significant amount of knowledge about this sector through postgraduate study. There are many colleges around the world providing graduate, Postgraduate degrees in Agriculture.
