The first time when I watched a documentary film in which a simple tree produced different varieties of fruits, I was quite astonished by how it could be. This art is called ¡°Grafting fruit trees¡±, grafting branches of one tree onto the root on the trunk of another. For example, grafting makes a plum tree grow apricots, grapefruits, or peaches. After knowing about tree branches being grafted, Sam Van Aken, the Syracuse University art professor, decided to create a tree that can produce 40 different fruits. Every year the tree stays the same green color until spring comes it begins to blossom in a mix of different tones of red, pink, and purple, while in summer producing 40 kinds of stone fruits including plums, apricots, cherries, peaches, and many more. |
