Thematic Report, October. Eco-friendly waste management

by Vazira Ikhtiyorova | 25-10-2021 20:04

Dear all,

Hope you are doing well.  I am finally based in Istanbul and came from sunny Tashkent, Uzbekistan! Hence, I would like to draw your attention to few comparisons I have made so far!

Waste Management became one of the priority issues to be resolved around the globe. This includes the collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste, together with monitoring and regulation of the waste management process. I am sure we as eco-ambassadors are aware and doing our best to contribute, yet impacting on the ones who don't know would work the best. Especially, trying to find a way share our written articles for people who may not be environmentally aware. What do you think about it?

Even after participating at one of the biggest environmental event in Milan, I realised to tackle with an issue we let the waste take a lead. So much food and paper were used, some were thrown. However, need to highlight that there were special bins. Yet, anyway whether it is small or big, it is called waste.

Having come Istanbul, I saw many bins to throw the rubbish which is very good but smoking people make it worse. Every single person almost smokes, doesn't care about the environment. Waste management is slightly better but still the recycling percentage is very low. The plastic might be thrown just to landfills...

I would definitely highlight that it is important to raise awareness of people that IT MATTERS! Reducing own emissions is to know where we stand. Finding out carbon foot print with our new calculator & share our pledge today! Neglecting this leads to the terrible consequences ever. Personally, I have heard a lot from my acquaintances "let it stay", ''do not worry special agencies care''. I hope and I believe that waste management starts from us to use all 5R's principles. From 0 we will make hero! Thank you for reading!
