by Syahidah Charisa Nabila | 01-10-2021 00:59

Climate change and global warming are a necessity. Climate change is a challenge that humans will face in the future. Efforts are needed to address it considering that climate change has an impact on human survival. However, our society seems to have not been moved to anticipate the impact of global warming. We have not seen our society is preparing for the worst situation, everything is still running as usual. It is the time for the government to prepare an effective and targeted communication strategy to raise public awareness regarding the urgency of the impact of climate change.

For this reason, explaining climate change towards the public society should avoid talking about science first. Instead, talk about simple things like fishing, flooding, farming, beliefs, and the future as entry points for discussing global warming. Specific methods are needed to construct climate change narratives. Education on climate change is focused on making people aware that saving the environment locally can also have a global impact. For example, for example, recycling used goods or cycling to work.

Education, literacy and advocacy to the community needs to be carried out continuously both by the central and local governments as well as the private sector, media or related parties, regarding weather, climate, earthquake and tsunami phenomena, as well as the impact of potential disasters that can occur, and mitigation measures that can be taken. quick and precise. It is intended that the public can participate in reducing the effects of global warming .

Local governments need to disseminate information on current and existing environmental policies to young people so that they can be involved in the formulation and implementation of these policies. Besides, it is important for local governments to not only involve the aspirations of young people on a regular basis in building environmental policies, or development policies that have an impact on the environment, but also to take the inputs of young people into consideration in policy making. Young people must build more effective communication with policy makers related to the aspirations of environmental issues in the regions. The establishment of a forum for local youth to express their aspirations related to environmental issues to policy makers. Also, we have to conduct environmental education for young people such as seminar or workshop, so that young people in the regions understand the importance of protecting and preserving the environment.
