 A small arthropod animal with six legs, generally one or two pairs of wings is an insect. An insect should not be regarded as a pest until they compete with humans for the same food as humans, and unless they sting, bite, annoy or make life inconvenient for a man himself or his possession like plants and animals, etc. They are regarded as pests when their population increases to the extent, creating an economic loss. Let's take the example of Lady Bird Beetle. Some people may still get confused about whether the Ladybird beetle is harmful or beneficial to the environment. Some people (let say the insect hater) may kill these beneficial beetles for no reason. Killing these beneficial beetles may add fuel to the destruction of the ecological balance. It belongs to the family of Coccinellidae and the order Coleoptera. They are small, round, colorful beetle commonly known as ladybugs. These insects are regarded as beneficial insects as they help to get an area rid of the crop from damaging aphids, mealybugs, and other destructive insect pests. They generally do not sting humans in most cases, whereas they may bite occasionally. But relax! their bite will not cause any serious injury or spread disease to a human. Doubling the number of ladybird beetles or swapping pesticides with beetles in the field could increase the output, enhance the quality. Using these beetles as biocontrol agents can add two benefits: 1. Save the environment from harmful pesticides, 2. Save the money from being wasting. But unfortunately, many farmers do not know the use of this insect as a biocontrol agent, which is one of the main reasons for declining the population of the ladybird beetle.  In short, allowing ladybird beetle to survive will reduce the amount of pesticide you use, reduce the pest residues of aphids, thrips, and mealybugs. Also, this will support reducing pesticide residue, its bioaccumulation or biomagnification, and eutrophication. So, the conclusion is, we must preserve this beautiful creature.  |
