3 Ways To Lead a Greener Lifestyle

by Paisley Hansen | 18-08-2021 05:51

These days, making eco-friendly changes to every aspect of living is common. And when it comes to how you live your day-to-day, making these changes is easier than you might think.

The best part is that there are countless ways you can go about doing this and there is truly something for everyone. And since a little inspiration never hurts, here are three ideas to get you going on your journey to a healthier, greener lifestyle.

1. Find Simple Ways To Manage Stress

Each day, different situations present themselves that can lead to an array of feelings and reactions. And ultimately, it's those days when stress or other upsets rear their ugly heads that you really need to pay attention to. It might be a stressful day at work, a phone call from your doctor with troubling test results, or an argument with your teenager that can turn your day upside down.

This is when you need to take a pause and be mindful as to how you process these feelings. Wondering what this has to do with living a greener lifestyle? For example, if your go-to reaction is to hop in the car and go for a long drive or indulge in some retail therapy, redirect yourself. Know that there are other things you can do to manage your stress that are not only eco-friendly but better for your health and well-being overall as well.

Think about heading out on a walk, a nearby park, or even your backyard to get in touch with nature and ground yourself. Enjoy a couple of CBD gummies to help aid in relaxation, practice meditative breathing and do your best to tune out the world around you.

As a result, you'll have eliminated carbon emissions by not driving and you won't have purchased material items that you probably didn't even need. Even better, you'll have done the work to reduce your stress and reap the benefits of time spent in nature.

2. Reduce Your Plastic Use

When your goal is to live a greener lifestyle, reducing your plastic use should be at the top of your list. This is an easy way to make a big impact through small changes.

However, it's important to think small when you're starting out. This will help you gain momentum in your progress while keeping the process from becoming overwhelming.

Try purchasing more items out of the bulk bin at your local grocery store or specialty market. Using glass jars or reusable containers instead of plastic bags will go a long way in reducing your plastic consumption.

For personal care items, be on the lookout for multi-purpose base products. This is a great way to make your own soaps, body washes, lotions and shampoo without having to go through plastic bottles continuously.

There are plenty of other ways to make this change as well and you can feel good about each one. Not only is it better for the environment, but you'll be cutting down on your exposure to potentially harmful chemicals in plastic as well.

3. Enjoy Truly Fresh Air

When you think about fresh air, what comes to mind? Do you think about a cool breeze on a gorgeous day, or do you think about air heavily scented by candles or air fresheners?

If your go-to for freshening your home comes in a spray or candle form, it's time to change things up. Not only are these products detrimental to your health, but they're also not great for the environment either. This is also a situation where learning how to read labels is especially important.

Fortunately, there are still ways you can enjoy pleasant scents within your home while staying safe at the same time. Even if scents aren't your thing, you can also still freshen your home by investing in air purifiers, making sure your air filtration system is well maintained, and simply opening your windows regularly.

Creating a greener lifestyle is an ongoing process, one that should be looked at with an open mind and excitement. What will you change about your lifestyle today?
