The Eco-Friendly Future - [Thematic Report]

by Justice Obiri | 20-08-2021 00:08

The Eco-Friendly Future

Wow, the streets are gleaming like brass, the plants are beaming like the sun and the air is as clean as it could come. Electric cars circulate the town like a swamp of bees in flight. A bright future portraying a bright day.

The birds sing in the sky like choristers on a carols day, the waterbodies rest with transparency, even a shadow can be seen in them. Children have been clad in smiles as they observe wildlife under the care of their parents. Isn¡¯t this nice?

I think through these few thoughts like a judge in the middle of a balanced case to pronounce a judgement. The future could be bright and nice like the smile of a baby, but like the baby the smile could turn to tears within the next second.

We may envisage a brighter future like I was doing with the above text but how can we make that a reality when the people within the cycle are not availing themselves to be taught and educated on the do¡¯s to make this fantasy a reality?

We¡¯ve been entangled in the struggle for a perfect environment, and our efforts always seem to be in vain because we preach about air pollution today, the next moment an individual is smoking or burning bush or rubbish somewhere. It is like a cycle where we try to get rid of something but always end up with the same thing.

That notwithstanding, we can still drive electric cars, ride bicycles to work, take a walk in town rather than use a petrol vehicle, we could encourage others to try and stop using plastics, advise and educate the youth on the need to protect the environment for our own benefits in the future and only hope for the best as the days rolls by like matches in a football league.
