THEMATIC REPORT FOR JULY (CARBON NEUTRALITY)

by EmmanuelE Okon | 15-08-2021 08:10

CARBON NEUTRALITY

The emission of carbons from many industries have cause a lot of bad effect on climate change, the rate at which this emission has caused harm can be derived from a case study in Nigeria

Nigeria today happens to be one of the highest producers of crude oil in the world, her exploration of crude oil for socio-economic development has resulted into loss theses as a result of carbon emission into the atmosphere. In 2018 one of the highest oil producing region suffered black suit this was has a result of carbon, which made every items kept clean become coated with black carbon.

This disastrous occurrence narrowed down into waters becoming unsafe has no way for production of clean water. Since items washed and produced for packaging of water become coated with black carbon emission which is carried through air.

Why carbon neutrality: Considering the rate at which this carbon will cause more harms to living  beings and creature there is certainty that many living organism will soon be without a home while plants and humans will no longer live long.

To measure up the co2 in the atmosphere we will see that activities are increasing the amount of co2 in the planet which is dangerous to health.

HOW DO YOU BECOME CARBON NEUTRAL: You¡¯re carbon neutral if the amount of CO©ü emissions you put into the atmosphere is the same as the amount of CO©ü emissions you remove from the atmosphere. Your impact is neutral, zero. Putting it bluntly, you¡¯re maybe not making it actively worse, but you¡¯re not making it better either.

On May 13, Elon Musk said Tesla would no longer accept bitcoin because of bitcoin¡¯s heavy energy consumption. Yet the company ranks well behind General Motors and Ford in reporting carbon emissions and setting carbon-reduction targets. So how green is Tesla, really?

Those concerned with the fate of the planet have long lauded Tesla for its efforts ¡°To accelerate the world¡¯s transition to sustainable energy.¡± The company says that ¡°the faster the world stops relying on fossil fuels and moves towards a zero-emission future, the better.¡±

While founder and CEO Elon Musk caused alarm among environmentalists in early 2021 by endorsing bitcoin, whose annual carbon emissions are equivalent to that of a small country, he reversed this position with a tweet on May 13. Responding in part to a tweet from the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance calling bitcoin¡¯s energy usage ¡°insane,¡± Musk said that Tesla would no longer transact in bitcoin because of its heavy reliance on fossil fuels and its ¡°great cost to the environment.¡±
