It was a great journey with Tunza Eco-generations so far and we have reached to an end of this term. This is not and end, this is the beginning of a new era of co-operation and knowledge sharing. And the last theme of the term “Eco Friendly Future” completely goes with this notion. In this regard, I have tried to highlight the approaches taken by Bangladesh in building an eco-friendly Bangladesh.

We are now recognized as a developing country with much lower poverty rates, which is a great achievement. However, increased urbanization and industrialization have negative consequences, such as environmental deterioration. Dhaka is consistently ranked first among the world's most polluting cities, which does not bode well for our image on the map. Fortunately, we are becoming more aware of the circumstances in which we live and are taking steps to address the problem.

PRODUCING ECO-FRIENDLY BRICKS

Many businesses now advocate the usage of concrete blocks. Furthermore, clay-rich topsoil is not used in any of their manufacturing processes. The concrete blocks are produced using sand, cement, iron-netting, and riverbed soil excavated from the riverbed. The companies manufactured 25 different types of concrete blocks WITHOUT needing clay-rich soils, which is incredible.

GREEN ARCHITECTURE

Buildings now have self-contained water and electricity systems. This cuts water waste by 60% and saves 40% on electricity. Furthermore, more buildings are incorporating biophilic features into their interior design, including more plants and doing whatever they can to make their living/working area a little greener than usual.

GREEN BANKING

More banks are embracing green initiatives by offering green banking options to customers, such as developing apps and boosting online banking. This essentially entails reducing the usage of paper by using e-statements and interacting via e-mail rather than face-to-face meetings. As a result, engagement is minimized, and resources are used efficiently.

MANUFACTURING CLOTHES IN ECO-FRIENDLY WAYS

After China, our country is known over the world for being the second largest exporter and apparel producer. We currently have roughly 67 clothing factories with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Furthermore, 220 garment factories are in the process of becoming certified!
