(Free Topic) Eco Habits that are free

by Shirin Shukhratova | 09-08-2021 16:46

I have noticed this tendency that when I start talking about more sustainable habits, people start to void this kind of topic and begin searching arguments why they cannot implement them into life because of lack of money, time, knowledge, etc. But the truth is, you don't have to go in deep and start complicating things, trying to change your life 180 degrees at once, it makes more sense to approach this matter more consciously and slowly. Here I would like to suggest the most simple and free eco habits that everyone can afford.

  1.  Clean emails. To be honest, I just recently watched a video from a blogger and found out about this radically new and unexpected news. It turns out that emails also litter the environment, because special computer equipment and some "boxes" are used to store emails, and they require physical space and energy. This in turn leads to the fact that if we do not clean up emails or delete unused email accounts, they continue to be stored in servers and take up unnecessary space and energy.
  2.  Sort the battery. Batteries are very contaminating to the soil, air and water; they are toxic when they get into the environment. If you only sort them, it would already be a very big contribution. Batteries can be discarded at almost any supermarket, many places have special boxes.
  3. Saving water. I know it is a hackneyed topic, but the number of times I have noticed when visiting friends is how they wash the dishes, brush their teeth, and leave the water on. Yes, even I, who am so "conscious" had moments when my head was flying in thought and left the water on, but it also adds up to wasting a few liters of water a day.
  4.  Use wood litter for the cat's litter box. There is artificial chemical litter and there is natural wood litter. It is made from waste from the forest industry - sawdust. Such a filler does not harm the environment; it can safely be flushed down the toilet or send to the compost pit if you live in a private home. After all, it does not matter what to put the cat in the toilet
  5.  Pick sauces in glass bottles. Even if you are not picking up litter separately yet, you can experiment with more eco-friendly packaging. It is not hard at all. Just buy the kind of sauce that is poured into a glass bottle. This material does not harm the environment when buried in a landfill. If your favorite sauce is not sold in glass, take it in a plastic bottle and recycle it. However, definitely forget the soft packs of ketchup. You cannot even recycle them if you want to.

I hope these tips will at least help someone to be ecological and conscious in life.
