These headlines definitely have provided you with the insight what actually Nepal was facing in recent months. Government of Nepal, Nepal Disaster Risk Reduction Decision released emergency notice relating flood as ¡®the tributaries of Koshi including Tamor, Sunkoshi, Trishuli, Budhigandaki, Marsyangdi and other tributaries of Narayani and the small rivers of Madhya Pahad, Chure and Terai flowing through Provinces 1, 2, Bagmati and Gandaki were expected to increase significantly. Landslides are occurring at various places across the nation.

So, it is requested to take special precautions during the period in the areas that are prone to landslide and flood. The landslide and flood is making thousands of people homeless. Human death record, missing record, livestock death is some impacts that are created. We cannot forget the soil status of the flooded and landslide affected area.

Keeping this in note, Regional Ambassador to Asia, Meena Pandey announced the ¡®Gift a plant to mother earth¡¯ campaign on July 2, 2021 where individuals were requested to plant trees in their locality and their home. I requested everyone to join this campaign and send us a photo of yours planting a tree to tunzaeconepal@gmail.com ; or at Meena.eco25@gmail.com.

I believed that small act can bring a big positive impact.

Soon after releasing this notice, I got chance to visit my village which lies at Dhadhing District, Nepal. It was really good when I went to my village where I was born after more than a 10 years. There I saw the forest were cleared and people were facing landslide. So, I requested to Community forest officers to assist us in the plantation campaign and provide us the plants for plantation. They provided me with the 100 trees from headquarter.

After that, I collected my neighbors and other people available at village and taught them on importance of planting and harmful effect we see after deforestation. All people were excited to join with me in afforestation campaign. We cleared some of the bushes, cleared plants that were of no use during 2 days. Around 40 plants were planted at the first day but due to rainfall we were not able to plant all trees that day. So, we planted remaining plants the other day. A total of 100 plants were planted in 2 days with involvement of around 20 people.

I am happy that I was able to bring my campaign to my own village being an eco-generation ambassador. I take this opportunity to thank Chairman of local community forest development Mr. Bheshraj Gauli, and other officials Ms. Sarita Ghimire, Mr. Dasiram Kandel, Mr. Bikram Gauli. I cannot forget all my villagers who helped me to reach this campaign to a success.

Also, on my call to send planting trees to my email. I received a total of 56 people with planting a total of 72 trees in different places of Nepal. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who sent me the photos while planting tree to my email. Thank you everyone.
Green Cheers!
