World tiger day

by Lhamu dolma Sherpa | 29-07-2021 12:13

International tiger day is celebrated every year on July 29 to raise awareness for tiger conservation and declining tiger population to halt their decline. It was launched in 2010 at the saint Petersburg tiger summit in Russia. There are currently 13 tiger range countries. The saint Petersburg conference declared the tiger range countries would make efforts to double the population by 2022.

Tiger,is the largest of the world's big cats, magical creature of nature and king of the wild communities.Tigers play important role Tor maintenance of  the ecosystem in which they live. There are some of threats that are driving tigers near extinction. Some of the threats that tigers face consists of poaching or persecution, conflict with humans, habitat encroachment, illegal trade.Tigers are facing the problem of poaching and illegal trade as there is a huge demand for each body part of the tiger. With the increasing population human have cut down the forest for purposes like agriculture ,industries etc.made a loss of natural habitat of tiger. Access routes ,climate change , disease prevalence have created day to day challenge for tiger. In 2009 Nepal had 121 tigers which later increased to 235 in 2018.This data shows that Nepal is close to meet the target of doubling the number of adult tigers by 2022.

Due to lack of knowledge and wrong understanding of wild life in communities pushes them to the brink of extinction. We need to encourage young people to participate in conservation. To raise awareness among people to understand the knowledge and importance of tiger conservation and support for tiger conservation issues. On this special day let's speed awareness to save tigers.
