Zero Carbon Police Force of Dubai

by Pranav Gaba | 11-07-2021 13:11

As countries around the world continue to take steps towards a sustainable future and meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement, the extrordinary example set by the Dubai Police Force is really praiseworthy and deserves a look into it.

Dubai Police took the decision to become a carbon-neutral police force in 2014 and has made significant progress since then. Dubai police is committed to realize this goal and to create a culture within the community to scale back carbon emissions through a city-wide approach.
Some of the actions taken by the Dubai Police to become a zero carbon police force include:-
i). Transforming its police fleet into hybrid vehicles thorough green procurement.
ii). Installation of solar panels on the rooftop of police station buildings with a plan to install solar panels on all 400+ buildings by 2020.
iii). Encouraging 'Carbon Champions' to show up and raise awareness about climate change in internal culture.

Finally, the example led by Dubai should serve as an inspiration for other countries to follow suit since this doesn't require the onset of a completely new technology to get it implemented plus it certainly doesn't have a very high cost.
