by Pranav Gaba | 11-07-2021 20:07

English businessman and entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson is about to reaize his lifelong dream of flying to the edge of space.

It has been a very long wait for the 70 year old British billionaire. He founded Virgin Galactic in 2004
to provide adventurous tourists with rides on rocket-powered planes to the edge of space and back. At the time, he thought commercial service would begin in two to three years. Instead, close to 17 years have passed. Virgin Galactic still has three more flights to conduct, including the one on Sunday, before it can be ready for paying passengers.

The flight is scheduled to take off Sunday morning from Spaceport America in New Mexico. To host the event, superstar Khalid and Stephen Colbert will make their presence felt at Spaceport America. A crew of 6 members will leave for space on Unity22 including Sir Richard Branson which will make him the first billionaire to go to space amongst his space rivals Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. The event will be livestreamed thorugh Virgin Galactic's youtube channel beginning at 6:30pm IST.
