[FREE REPORT] Plogging for our Future

by CHARU SMITA | 11-07-2021 22:18

Recently, I was talking to a friend who claimed that modern work pattern has decreased the amount of time humans spend on events that help to keep our environment clean and safe. For example, making composts at home and picking up trash in the locality are activities that take up a lot of time. We cannot claim that this is untrue, that is why, we must come up with new trends that can help people multitask and help their environment. One such trend that is becoming more and more popular these days is Plogging: An eco-friendly workout trend that is blowing up across the globe.

So what is Plogging? Plogging comes from the Swedish verbs which means pick up and jog. To put it simply, it is a jogging routine while picking up litter and then disposing it correctly. We can trace the origin of this workout in Sweden which started with an organization in 2016 and then spread globally because of social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. Social media has been successful in helping more and more of such helpful trends to come up and be spread through the world. I This trend, however, also captured people's interest because of the increase in concern about pollution. The fact that Plogging addresses both health and environmental aspect makes people motivated to take out time in their busy schedule.

This trend has also become famous in India after the project conducted by the government on 2nd October 2019 with a course of 2 kilometers called as FIT India Plog Run. This project came under Swaach Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Movement) and FIT India Movement. Because of this, Plogging has spread throughout the country with over 3 Million people participating in the first ever Plog Run. Currently, many schools, colleges and environmental clubs organise Plogging. This trend surely helps both humans and the environment to be clean and healthy.

I would like to encourage everyone to start Plogging by taking out time in your life. You don't necessarily need to run a 2 kilometers course, you can run 500 meters and still improve the condition of your locality by tons. Small changes matter and so does your Plog Run.
