Green Vehicles | Thematic Report

by Mahsinur Rahman | 21-06-2021 02:56

A green vehicle, clean vehicle, eco-friendly vehicle or environmentally friendly vehicle is a road motor vehicle that produces less harmful gases compared to the other comparable conventional internal combustion engine vehicles that run on gasoline or diesel, or one that uses certain alternative fuels. Green vehicles have reduced emission. Some examples are hybrid cars (HEV), electric cars (EV) and fuel cell cars (FCEV). Instead of combusting fossil fuels in combustion engines of traditional cars, these cars produce less harmful impact to the environment.

Green vehicles are powered by alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies. As part of their contribution to sustainable transport, these vehicles reduce air pollution and greenhouse emission, and contribute to energy independence by reducing oil imports.

There are a few types of green vehicles. One if them is EV or electric vehicles. Electric cars are typically more efficient than fuel cell -powered vehicles on a Tank-to-wheel basis. Hybrid electric vehicles may be partly fossil fuel (or biofuel) powered and partly electric or hydrogen-powered. Most combine an internal combustion engine with an electric engine, though other variations too exist. There are also compressed air cars and stirling vehicles. These are even less polluting than electrical vehicles are even less polluting than electrical vehicles. Green vehicles are a very good initiative given vehicle pollutants have been linked to human ill health including the incidence of respiratory and cardiopulmonary disease and lung cancer.
