(Thematic Report) Green Vehicles

by tatuli kvaratskhelia | 08-06-2021 21:36

Green vehicles are, vehicles that have a lower negative impact on the environment than conventional internal combustion engine vehicles that run on gasoline or diesel. Nowadays the demand on eco-friendly cars is climbing as the prices for the fuel are rising, so the copanies are trying to catch up with the demand.

I¡¯m sure that everyone has heard about Toyota¡¯s effort at reducing its environmental impacts. Toyota has done many great things for the environments including groundbreaking Prius hybrids. They are also trying to make hydrogen fuel cell cars.

Hydrogen vehicles are type of alternative fuel vehicles that use hydrogen fuel for power. They are powered by an electric motor and are therefore classified as e-cars. The difference between hydrogen fuel cell cars and other electric vehicles is that hydrogen cars produce the electricity themselves. This means that fully electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles can be charged from an external power source, but hydrogen cars have their own efficient power plant on board.

In fuel cell technology hydrogen reacts with oxygen in the fuel cell. The hydrogen comes from the built in tanks and the oxygen comes from the ambient air. The results of this reaction are electrical energy, heat and water, that means that hydrogen-powered cars are emission-free.

For example, Toyota Mirai is one of the first hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to be mass produced and sold commercially. It became the first hydrogen powered car to travel the length of Great Britain.
