Let’s say bye to Plastic Pollution

Well in today’s world of modernization, with many inventions we are sure not unknown about plastic. Plastic have become our day to day need and want both. Even the word I am typing now, is via laptop which accounts about 20 percent of plastic. My morning alarm today is not sweet chirps of little birds neither the rays of sun on my eyes, but it’s

such a tragedy to say, those alarms are mobile phone which also contains plastic or it would be that plastic alarm clock. The word, plastic focused here much sure seems really important part of our daily life and it indeed is, but as it says use is good and misuse is the worst. Yeah, the misuse of plastic has cause great trouble in this present time which is now given name pollution more specifically being called as plastic pollution. It has been found that it takes 20 to 500 years just to decompose a piece of plastic be it smallest of small part of it, depending upon nature of plastic material. Invention creates easiness with difficulties, boon with curse, opportunity with lack so it has been with plastic. Facing plastic pollution

is the great example of the previous sentence. Plastic pollution is not today’s problem only, but has been an unsolved problem since many years and if not solved, we certain has to face many fantasies created in movies where human are deprived of living in dead planet.

So, what can we do to prevent such worst situation to occur? The answer is too simple and just of two letters –“We”. Yes to put it in a phrase, “We are the part of the solution”. With concern to the issues regarding the plastic pollution, many norms and practices has been applied say for example; use of paper bags, jute bags etc. Humans are using plastic so haphazardly that seems just so useless of plastic being used like, use of straw. To those who made the concept of straw and to those who use it which includes even me) a question arises, can’t we just use natural appendages? Are straws just that important that the juice, cold coffee etc can’t be drunk via the glass? To add up, survey in USA highlighted that five hundred millions straws are used each day by the people in USA. Moreover, the use of plastic has seen so wide and adverse that a shopkeeper provide a big polythene bag just for a chocolate. Oh wow that kid can’t even handle that chocolate in his hand or can’t put inside

his pockets. Here, it seems as if we need to change our concept in the of plastic be it providing a different classes or trainings or charging fine. If use of plastic in nonsense ways as it has been seen is stopped by all the 7.9 billion people in whole planet, more than half of the plastic pollution could be prevented. Discoveries have shown that plastics are replaceable too. Hemp, yes hemp has been found as efficient plastic replaceable. Once the fibres have been removed from the hemp stems, what remains is 77% cellulose: the building blocks of trees and plants and a source of plastic that is biodegradable. Hemp grows prolifically, making it an extremely efficient crop for these sustainable plastics

known as ‘bioplastics’. They are lightweight, biodegradable and can replace many petrochemical plastics / oil-based plastics (Hemp-Based Plastic - Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum, n.d.) . If this fact is focused  and acted well we could get bioplastics and prevent plastic pollution.

Human being is the most intellectual being present and able to dominate this earth in the present Cenozoic Era but with inventions via it’s intellectuality, humans invited many problems and the burning issue has been plastic pollution. Plastic pollution in my view is the father of all pollution giving birth to land, water, air pollution which must be

prevented. And we human ourselves are the solution to this self-created problem. By restricting haphazard use of plastic, not-overusing it and discovering plastic replaceable with it’s implementation seems the most solution which can be executed by only us.
