RPTRA Green Building Concept

RPTRA is an abbreviation for Ruang Publik Terpadu Ramah Anak. RPTRA is an open public space that can only be found in Jakarta. This space can be imagined as a park, but with a building that communities can use to meet.

The RPTRA building has an open concept, in which it allows natural sun and wind to pass through. Every building from one RPTRA to another differs, but they have the same green and open concept. After all it is a public space provided by the Jakarta¡¯s government. So some RPTRA building have sliding doors that had previously served as walls, others may have unique architecture with woods that serve as ventilation. The facilities of RPTRA aside an open space for a community to meet are hydroponics and a library. Hydroponics are encouraged at RPTRA for the community to grow their own plants. Meanwhile the existence of the library is to encourage kids to read.

I have done many of my E-Gen campaign at RPTRA, where my target audiences are children that are still in primary school. Aside it being at the mainland Jakarta, RPTRA can also be found at some of the island of the Thousand Island. I had learned about eco-brick from the community at Pramuka Island.
