Learning by doing has been an exciting journey for me in this week. Youth endeavor for sustainable agriculture (YES agriculture ) has organized ‘plant clinic program ‘ on 19 april and 21 april in collaboration with siddharthanagar municipality 10, Doghahari. This program has co ordinated by plant clinic wing coordinator of YES agriculture Mr Jay chaurasiya .  Me working as a board member of this organization I have got this opportunity to work with his team for organizing this program. This program had basically two phases ,informal on 19 april  and formal phase on 21 april.

 In informal program on 19 april we organizing  team member went to farmer’s house for field survey. We then with the help of some  designated member of smart krishi office of that municipality went to farmer’s field  to ask different questionnaire related with the problems in their field  during vegetable  production and observed their field as well. From this survey we found that farmers especially have cultivated vegetables of cucurbitaceae family in this season. Moreover they  also have cultivated crops of malvaceae , leguminaceae , umbiliferae , liliaceae , solanaceae , anacardiceae , spindaceae family. We found that farmers have been using endemic / native seeds rather than improved seeds. In some places , native seeds have seen to be disease resistance but it has been observed with less production. We observed that vegetables of cucurbitaceae and solanaceae  family was highly effected by the  leaf feeder and borer insects beyond the economic threshold level but still they have not used any insect trapper to control insect. Farmers have been using chemical insecticides and pesticides for insect control rather than any mechanical  and biological method of insect control . cucumber and pumpkin was effected with powdery mildew in high quantity. we were heart break with the farmers loss in  acers and ropani of chilly production  that has damaged by little leaf virus and mosaic virus. We felt  very greatful to share our knowledge to the farmers regarding the virus outbreak and solution. We also shared our knowledge about the biological control of crop- pest management.

In informal program on 21 april , we invited all  farmers those who have faced problems in field with the samples of their effected crop  on municipality hall . our organizing team is very thankful for our main guest agriculture technician  and NARC scientist entomologist Binita sharma and pathologist Shivaratan Gupta along with agriculture extension officer mr. yogendra Prasad Yadav and senior Ravin Rijal  and Archana Paudel  that they observed problem of farmers and helped to provide  correct prescription for the control of insect and pest. They suggested farmers to use biological insect control method rather than chemical control.
