Thematic Report: Business and the environment

by Asmita Gaire | 02-04-2021 13:37

Business and the environment

I was out of the country for college educational tour to neighbouring nation, India for few days. I wasn't out of reach of internet connection for few weeks, and wasn't able to write the reports. I heartily apologize for this delay. Nevertheless, after my tour, when I came to know about the Thematic Report topic, I was thankful that I got opportunity to write on such a topic that connects to environment and that is very much related to my educational tour too.

In your, we visited lots of place that are enriched with natural beauty. I must thank the educational tour for giving such a opportunity to rejoice and spend much time in natural environment. When it comes linking environment with business, then there are many concepts by which we can interconnect them. While it be from industrial business connected to environment or through tourism or through other ways. But, in every business, we have to keep in mind that any of the aspects that are interlinked shouldn't be hampered. Or let me simplify it as, all the aspects should be equally benefited, only one of the resources should be used exploitatively. It loses the balance.

So, is in the case of business and environment. We can use the resources of environment only if they are utilized in proper way which doesn't exploit environment and other aspects that are dependent on environment. The best approach that I found was tourism. The more businessman aids in the management of environment, the more benefits they find in business. The progress occur only when there is synergistic effect in business and environment.

Many environmental resources are so beautifully managed that the area has been renowned tourism area. Example, in the Ilam district of Nepal that lies in Northern Eastern part of Nepal. It's a hilly region which is famous for tea cultivation. The people and government has taken this as opportunity and has beautifully managed the tea cultivation. In return, every year almost in every season, both domestic and international tourists are outnumbered. The tea farming has so flourished that it is exported to different countries. The hotel, guest house, home stay, lodge have also developed. The tea products and other local products like Ilameli lollipop (sweets) and churpi have been the most demanding products by consumers. Similarly, the cultures and cultural dresses are also taken in rent for the photos and feel the cultural sense. This has also supported cultural diversity and has helped to start the business linking cultures.

There are lots of undiscovered places in Nepal, and other countries that can be interlinked with business especially tourism, that in one hand supports people and national economy, while in the other hand protects and preserves the environment in its own state.
