Dear fellow Tunza-Eco generation comrades,

I am Ssenyange Apollo from Uganda and I am passionate about community betterment, youth empowerment and environmental conservation. I have been appointed as the 26th Eco generation ambassador for Uganda and I am only looking forward to working with you all in this noble cause to save our planet.

Majority of young people out there are eager to engage and take on solutions to save the environment but they don't know how, so it really gives me immeasurable pleasure to interact with youth who know how and are making considerable efforts to pass on information to fellow peers.
As you all know that we are the future generation, we face a burden of partaking the consequences of the current climate changes if no action is taken.

We, the youth, often feel a sense of concern towards the environment because of the increasingly alarming projections of future climate conditions by scientists which agitates us to do something but besides this, we need to look more closely and keenly to our immediate environment.

I have always wondered why the dry seasons have been hotter and prolonged of recent (to be specific in Uganda) that I couldn't comfortably rest in the house at midday as it turned into a sauna. I am convinced some of you, if not majority have experienced this too. I then pondered about the good old days when midday was the sweet time for a home movie without an air conditioner. However, I also looked around my area for tree population owing to tree-environment relationship knowledge, and got the answer just right there! Simple and obvious initiatives like planting fruit trees in compound or small garden are considerable and got me thinking that if we, the youth can drive these on, climate change would never be out of our control.

Gone are the days we were told that we were too young to understand the complexity of this, or wait for our time to make a difference, we now know better, that it's always right time to make a difference and we will stop at nothing.

Once again, I am more than glad to come aboard to the Tunza fraternity because it all starts with raising awareness among young people about the key issues at hand and how to get involved in developing and implementing sustainable solutions, which Tunza expertises in.
