by Meena Pandey | 02-03-2021 00:32

Free report_ March

How soon time flies. It¡¯s already 6 months that we worked together. Retrospecting my work as 25th eco generation ambassador, I did following jobs.

1.  Online webinar on ¡®Together for agenda 2030¡¯

The program was coordinated with the innovative ideas of Mr. Sagar Koirala, Regional Ambassador for Asia at Eco-generation. Mr. Sagar Koirala and I were the main coordinator of the program. It was great to conduct the webinar in the international level as we had speakers of 4 different countries. The program was conducted is September 4 and 5, 2020. We had 17 different speakers to talk on 17 different sustainable development goals. The webinar was organized with the prime motive of providing an overview of the world¡¯s implementation efforts of SDGs to date, highlighting areas of progress and where more action needs to be taken. The program was of great benefit as it helped to exchange the information between the speakers. We were praised for our efforts. There were huge number of participants. We had gone live from the official Facebook page of Tunza Eco network, Nepal so as to make access for the people to watch the program who was unable to join with us in zoom.

2. Three days long campaign on awareness about ozone layer preservation

The theme for the World Ozone Day 2020 was "Ozone for life: 35 years of ozone layer protection". Ozone is an efficient absorber of ultraviolet radiation and help to protect the biosphere. Ozone depletion is a major environmental problem which is harmful to the flora and fauna on earth.

With the main motto of conveying awareness, facts and slogans related to the ozone protection, we conducted online campaign running for 3 days (September 16-18). The campaign was aimed so as to convey the message on importance of ozone layer and its facts.  The program was conducted in collaboration of Mr. Alok Dhakal  along with the tunza members, Shobha Pokhrel and Dolma Diki Sherpa. We celebrated ¡®Ozone Day¡¯ with the release of different slogans, facts, and flyers related to it for three days. As we were compelled to stay at home in the havoc of corona virus, all we could do was online campaign. So, we conveyed the message, slogans, facts, and flyers through the official page of Tunza Eco-network, Nepal which has more than 2500 members.

Being one of the coordinator I represented Tunza Eco-generation in world Climate summit. The summit was organized by Eco-Network which is a youth led Organization that works for Environmental sustainability. It also feels grateful as I am the campus ambassador of eco-network and have the opportunity to act on the behalf of the environment. It is such a platform where anyone can join & take some action for protecting our environment. We had our Global partners: Zimbabwe Youth Biodiversity Network, Tunza Eco-Generation, Climates Nepal, Youth for AGRI, Sustainability Week Kathmandu, Eco-Samachar, EAM Proactive, Bangla Radio 95.2, IAAS India, SAARC Youth Council, Youth Talents, Green Commando Earth, YPard Nepal, PEADO, African Youth Advocay Group, Wake Up, Voice of the Vulnerables, AHC Foundation, BUP Research Society, Environmental Clubs of BUP, AHC Foundation, NEAT. We gathered in the summit to discuss different perspective in solving climate change. We discussed on different climate related agendas, issues, problems and we will come up with a really effective solution. That is what we aimed for.

Thank you Tunza Eco-generation for giving me chance to explore myself.

3. Organize ¡®World climate Summit-2020¡¯

4.  Poster campaign on World Cleanup day 2020

Every year we celebrate ¡®World Cleanup day¡¯ in the third week of September. This year we celebrated world cleanup day on 19th September. This day is considered as the civic movement where the people all over the world unite so as to clean the planet. The aim of this day is to map all the world¡¯s illegal waste and to engage at least 5% of the global population to clean up or planet. Due to the global pandemic, we weren¡¯t able to act locally and in the community so as to clean the environment. So, I organized the art campaign in which the interested people present their art relating to the cleanliness theme. This can be the approach to make people aware about the environment cleanliness not only for human health but also for the environmental health.

5. Publish of scientific article on ¡®Ethnoveterinary practice of medicinal plants in Chhatradev Rural Municipality, Arghakhanchi district of western Nepal¡¯

Medicinal plants are the inseparable part of the ecosystem. Ethnoveterinary medicine is the traditional approach relating to the treatment and maintenance of animal health care. It is following folklore beliefs, skills, and practices of people by using locally available plant species.

The objectives to carry this study were (i) to document the plants with medicinal values used in the treatment of various ailment category of the animals, (ii) to disseminate the formulation technique and the plant part used, (iii) to determine the informant consensus factor and (iv) to record the plant species with the highest citation frequency. This study will be a useful resource for the conservationist, veterinarians, phytochemists, and Ayurvedic physicians to conduct pharmacological studies in the coming days, and will be a valuable asset for the farmers for the treatment.

Besides these I have aware the local people on importance of living eco-centric lifestyle.
