[Thematic Report] How Environmental Jobs Work Together for the Environment

by Seojin Lee | 20-01-2021 23:04

It is no secret that the earth and mother nature is being seriously affected by everyday human activities. Climate change, animal extinction, and water pollution are only a few out of the many environmental problems caused by humans to earth. However, because it is widely known that the earth is in danger, there are also many jobs created related to preserving mother nature and the environment. These jobs include environmental scientists, environmental lawyers, and conservationists.
In my opinion, environmental scientists are one of the most important people among all environmental jobs. This is because environmental scientists are the ones who research the sciences of the environment in order to recognize the detrimental effects humans have on the environment. Not only were these scientists the ones who first recognized the threat of climate change, but these scientists are also the ones who came up with solutions on how to save the environment. The definition of being an environmental scientist is very broad, as your field of expertise may include atmospheric sciences, ecology, environmental chemistry, geosciences, and social sciences.
However, recognizing the problem and offering solutions are not enough to actually solve the problem. Solving the problem also requires putting the solution into action. That¡¯s when environmental lawyers come in. Environmental lawyers are the people who represent the environment in legal fields. These people are the ones who help set environmental laws and solutions proposed by the scientists mentioned previously, in order to most effectively help the environment. These lawyers almost always use the evidence proposed by environmental scientists in order to induce the government into setting environmental laws and protection services, which also re-emphasizes the importance of environmental scientists.
Conservationists are also other people who work under the category of environmental jobs. These people are also crucial to the well-being of the environment, as conservationists are the ones who manage the environment. There are many different types of conservationists, and they are categorized by which part of the environment they manage; these parts include parks, forests, rangelands, soil, and water. Conservationists may also help environmental scientists by counting or estimating the population of an animal species. However, conservationists also have other roles. For example, conservationists may help enforce the environmental laws and regulations set by environmental lawyers by making sure farmers are following regulations and companies are not infringing on the habitats of animals. Additionally, conservationists may help educate the public and/or the youth about the environment and their line of work. Personally, I have met many conservationists and have learned many important pieces of information and lessons about the current state of the environment, the history of climate change, and how we can help to save the environment.
It is apparent that many environmental jobs exist in order to manage and protect further damage against mother nature. This gives people many opportunities to help the environment in future generations. I believe that with the help and cooperation of both current and aspiring environmental workers, we can prevent and protect the earth from further environmental harm and the daunting problem of climate change.
