When we talk about environmental jobs there are quite a many to discuss. These jobs can sometimes be at your desk or sometimes travelling or a combination of both. Those involved in planning environmental policies or conducting research about their local environment will usually have work at their desk.

There are many job related to environment such as:

1.      Zoologists

2.      Horticulturists

3.      Wildlife Managers

4.      Oceanographers

5.      Meteorologists

6.      Environmental Lawyers

7.      Ecologists

8.      Microbiologists

9.      Soil & Plant scientists

10.  Environmental Scientists and many more

There are varied careers available in environmental science and each one differs from one another in many aspects.

Have you heard about oceanographers and meteorologists? They spend their career in a lab taking care of designing computer models or checking the safety of its operations or study the weather and so on.

On the other hand, horticulturalists specialize in creating landscapes. They work and plan to reduce erosion, stabilize slopes, reduce energy consumption in building, improve water and air quality.

From the name itself you might guess the job of Zoologists. Yes, they study and examine the physical characteristics/features, behaviors of animals and how they interact with humans and ecosystems. They can choose to study one particular animal in depth or a group of animals. They also have an option to choose to work with animals in their natural habitats or in zoos or aquariums.

Now let¡¯s discuss about environmental scientists. As the name suggests, they research on topics interconnecting environment and health problems to problem solve and come up with a solution to them. They try to investigate critical issues to identify the different types of issues and come up with ideas and solutions to either eliminate them and if not minimize their effects on environment. Sometimes they do recommend solutions and strategies for stabilizing or managing the environmental issues.

A few of the tasks that environmental scientists do are listed below:

1.      Collecting/analyzing air, water and soil samples

2.      Analyze environmental data

3.      Identify pollutants source or hazards

4.      Prepare reports that explains their research findings and solutions

5.      Steps to prevent issues in environment

6.      Advise policymakers or local government to implement or improvise the policies or practices
