These birds is also known as connecting link between reptiles and Birds. About 10000 different species of birds are found in planet and about 900 species are on verge of extinction.

Importance of birds
Birds have vital role for both environment and human. They help in dispersal of seeds of plants in environment.  They eat insects and balance the population of insects in earth. Vulture eat decayed bodies which may harm our environment.

Every year national birds day is celebrated in January 5 in US and other countries to create awareness about species of birds and their importance in ecosystem.

History
In 2002 Avian welfare coalition and born free USA has started to celebrate January 5 as a national birds day  to spread awareness and protect endangered species of birds
About 12 % of birds are on verge of extinction due to illegal trade, disease and habitat loss. It is important to tell the future generation about importance of birds on ecosystem.

Different national and international organisation are actively involved in conducting different programs and campaign to spread awareness among public people.

Ways to protect birds

1) Deforestation should be reduced to preserve habitat of birds.
2)strong rules and regulations should be implemented to restrict the illegal trading O birds.
3) Use of pesticides and insecticide should be minimized
4) Awareness program should be conducted.
